Why book with GetYourGuide

Make the most of your time on the ground and head over to GetYourGuide, a platform listing thousands of experiences at the best price all over the world.

We’ve been using their site and mobile app for years on our trips: here’s everything you gain by booking through this platform, plus our tips for getting the most out of it.

  • A huge range of activities and tours worldwide

There are over 200,000 activities available on the platform across more than 150 countries. GetYourGuide covers it all: whether you’re after a skip-the-line ticket for a landmark, a local cooking class or an off-the-beaten-track excursion, you’re bound to find the perfect experience for your trip.

  • Free, flexible cancellation

You can cancel your booking free of charge up to 24 hours before most activities start. A big plus when you need to deal with the unexpected during your trip.

  • Skip-the-line tickets

You’ll save precious time by skipping the queue at the busiest sites.

  • Tickets available on your phone

No need to print your tickets, everything’s kept in one place on the GetYourGuide app.

  • Verified customer reviews so you can book with confidence

Before booking anything, read the reviews carefully to get a feel for the experience you’re about to have. Steer clear of ratings below 4.3/5, for example, to pick a reliable provider.

Our tips before booking on GetYourGuide

  • Check the cancellation policy for the activity you’ve chosen: it can vary from one experience to another, even though the window is usually 24 hours.
  • Book several weeks ahead for activities with very limited capacity or high demand (for example, the helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon).
  • Always compare the price shown on GetYourGuide with what an independent guide or local agency charges on-site: sometimes booking direct works out cheaper.

Our favourite experiences on GetYourGuide

Helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon in the United States as a couple
Helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon in the United States

One of the highlights of our road trip through the American West in September 2024 was our first-ever helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. A magical, unforgettable experience you’ve got to have at least once in your life!

We booked this experience several weeks ahead on the GetYourGuide app: make sure you do the same, since it’s a hugely popular activity with limited spots. We’d recommend taking the first slot of the morning to catch the canyon in its prettiest colors.

We flew with Maverick, a company with a solid local reputation and great reviews from visitors: everything went really smoothly with them, we’d highly recommend it.

Excursion to the Meteora monasteries from Thessaloniki, Greece
Excursion to Meteora from Thessaloniki, Greece

The Meteora monasteries are a spectacular sight we’d been dreaming of for years. We took advantage of our city trip to Thessaloniki to book a private day trip offered on GetYourGuide.

For us, it was the best choice to avoid buses packed with tourists and rigid schedules. Our driver was really friendly, accommodating, and flexible: he adjusted the itinerary to what we wanted and gave us plenty of time at each stop. We had time to visit two monasteries, take some lovely photos at a viewpoint along the way, and stop for lunch at a restaurant.

Private cooking class with a chef in Genoa, making pesto pasta
Private cooking class with a chef in Genoa

During our long weekend in Genoa, we got the chance to take a private cooking class at an Italian chef’s home to learn how to make real Genoese pesto and homemade pasta. The experience takes place at Alberto’s place, who welcomed us into his kitchen (worth noting: if the weather’s nice, the class is held on his terrace).

We loved that evening, a real moment of sharing and learning about Genoese cuisine, where the ingredients come from, and time-honored techniques.

The class wraps up with a dinner to enjoy the pesto pasta you’ve just made: we’d recommend giving this experience a try if you’re planning a stay in Genoa.
